Rachel and I went to The Antique Sandwich Co the other day for open mic night. Our neighbors are really good friends with someone that was performing there and it sounded like it would be a good time, live music and antique sandwiches, how could it not? The place was pretty full when we got there we managed to find a spot to sit next to our friends but kind of ended up sitting by ourselves. We ordered sandwiches and a drink and prepared to be musically inspired. There was quite the line up that night, something like 20 people back to back performing and when they read off the names I realized that Alina was like 4th up. I wasn't prepared for what I would see next. The Scatman was introduced, I thought what and interesting name I wonder what he's all about. He got on stage with an American flag and continued to try to lay on him correctly but he kept twitching and moving around in his chair so it kept falling off of him. He grabbed the mic and I don't think I caught one single word he said for his opening or his lyrics, it was hilarious. I was laughing to myself when I realized that nobody else was laughing, then I felt Rachel's hand on my back and when I looked at her she was crackin up. I caught a glimpse of my friends Chad and Jordan and they were laughing as well, but that's it... everybody else was quite. I decided that I needed to take some pictures of this so that I could blog about it and show you all this guy. Alina performed a couple people after that and while I was listening to Alina I realized that the Scatman was pulling out his video recorder and started taking video of Alina! I got pictures.

The other day I was talking to a neighbor-friend of mine and he was drinking a Slurpee from 7 Eleven and I was able to get a taste of it's greatness. As my taste buds exploded with joy I thought to myself, I need to get more of this goodness in me! I told Rachel that we were gonna get Slurpee's and go to the park. After heading up the street to 7 Eleven and creating a concoction of frothy goodness that your taste buds would leap out of your mouth for we took a journey over to Bradley Lake Park. We found some parking and good spot to drink our Slurpee's and eat our hot dogs. Soon we realized that we were cold and packed up our stuff and headed out. We made a brief stop by the swings and I got some great pics of Rachel on the "toddler swing" (We were told by a 4 year old on the regular swings that she was on the toddler swing).

We had such a great time hangin out with friends and listening to awesome music. We were able to stay with some friends of ours that have some property out in eastern Washington so we stayed the night Friday night and then came back on Saturday. Of course our weekend didn't end until Monday night - Labor Day weekend!
Man I love summer time. It's funny that in Washington we spend 8-9 months in the dark and rain with most people complaining about the weather only to get to summer where people then complain about the heat. I've figured something out. People complain. I don't want to be known as the guy who always has something negative to say or is always criticizing. I'd rather be known as the positive guy who is always encouraging. I've found something else out. It's a choice to be positive or to be negative. I've recently found myself being negative in some areas of my life and when I realized this I decided to stop. Not that I don't have it in the back of my head still but I know that if I don't turn those thoughts into words, I won't give those negative thoughts oxygen to breath. I can choose to think and speak differently about the situations in my life. I can choose to be a positive person.
My awesome wife Rachel is allergic to Peanuts - like deathly allregic. This is an issue because to me if you can't put ranch dressing on it you can put peanut butter on it, I love it! I realized when we started dating that I had to give up the peanut butter goodness that I loved so much becuase if I ever happen to have some peanut residue in my mouth and I kiss Rachel, she could... well... die. We were at the store on Saturday and I thought to myself, they've gotta make something that Rachel can eat that doesn't have peanuts in it but is like peanut butter and viola, SunButter came into my life.
So imagine when you eat a peanut... then when you eat peanut butter, there's that creamy sticky goodness in the peanut butter. So now think about eating a sunflower seed... then think about it in a creamy & sticky texture - that's SunButter. I made a SunButter and jelly sandwich the night I bought it and I was impressed, it's actually pretty good. I'm excited to see what else I can make with it. Currently they have 6 flavors, so I think I'll get the creamy next time instead of the Honey Crunch. YUM!
You can color your very own SunBuddy HERE.
Here's my SunBuddy, doesn't he have an awesome quote.
I'm thinking about buying the SunBuddy t-shirt from the website for Rachel. Hahaha.
So the dress code changed at my work on January 1st where instead of dressing business dress and occasionally business casual we are now allowed to dress casual. I don't mean we can now wear shorts and flip flops but we can wear t-shirts, jeans and tennis shoes every day. It's awesome. It's funny because I don't see to many people actually wearing t-shirts... I think that I may be the only one, do I care? NOPE! The dress code says I can, so I do.
So on New Years Eve I played guitar hero and fell in love with it! I had heard about it here and there but thought really nothing of it but when I went to a friends house for New Years and peeps were playing I had to give it a shot.. I didn't put it down for hours. I woke up on New Years Day with a mission. Buy Guitar Hero. After spending about 2 hours going from store to store only to find out that it was sold out everywhere Rachel thought that it would be a good idea to call our local Fred Meyer and guess what? They had it. They were sold out of Guitar Hero 3 so we ended up getting the Guitar Hero 2 bundle (guitar and game). I didn't stop rockin until midnight, it was awesome.
My birthday is coming up on Tuesday and I'm hoping that I can get Guitar Hero 3. I feel like a child again, asking for games for my birthday and spending my Christmas money on them haha.. If I get the bundle for Guitar Hero 3 then I'll have 2 guitars, then I can battle people and play 2 player mode...
You guys.. I was in powder up to my knees yesterday. It was awesome.
I took the day off of work yesterday to hit Crystal Mt. At the beginning of the season I attended a Warren Miller film in Tacoma and got a bunch of free stuff, one of those being a free lift ticket to Crystal on a Tuesday. The lame thing was that there was only 6 Tuesday that it could be used, 3 in December and 3 in I think March. The past 2 Tuesdays Crystal has hardly had any snow so I've put off going until the last one available in December and thank God I did. I checked the snow report on Monday night and there was 33" at the base but when I checked Tuesday morning it was at 43"! It was beautiful. Besides that fact that it snowed all day while we were up there, the visibility wasn't to good at times and there were 55mph gusts of wind at the very top of the mountain blowing snow in your face like daggers the day was awesome! I went off a ton of jumped and landed more than I didn't land which is a sign that I'm getting better and for the first time I landed a jump with a grab.
I'm back to work today and wishing that I had about 6 more hours of sleep, my body is beat and all I can think about it getting back up there. I can't wait for the day that I don't have to wake up in the morning and go to a job. When I can wake up, look at the snow report, see that there's new snow and decide that it would be a good day to go to the mountain. I don't think that day is to far away, and I'm siked! (now that's a word I've never spelled out before) Our business is grown steadily and financial Independence is closer than ever.
On another note. I wanted to let you all know that I like the way that Ibuprofen tastes. I don't eat it or anything but if you've taken it before I'm sure you can remember the taste that it leaves in your mount after you swallow it. I just took this hurkin 800mg Ibuprofen to get rid of some of this pain I'm feeling from getting up yesterday at the mountain.
Well there.. now that we have that out of the way, I was browsing around the world wide web today and saw an add for a marshmallow shooter! I thought to myself - now wouldn't it suck to have had my eye shot out by a marshmallow shooter? I wonder how many marshmallow shooters will be under or are already under Christmas trees right now and how many marshmallow related injuries will follow?
If you look closely you can see the little marshmallows in the chamber. It holds 25 Marshmallows for non-stop fun!
So apparently these marshmallow realated toys are quite a big deal. They're actually trying to cover the world in marshmallows. I like the Bow & Mallow - how creative!
I've been working out this week in the mornings at 5:30. It's feels good, I usually get to work and think to myself, dang.. I've already done a lot this morning. I've had the hardest time getting consistent with working out in the past, it seems like everytime I would get on a rythm something would happen that would cause me to get off. I had a shoulder injury in the winter that has been the biggest deterant, I got all sick for a while and then had like 2 migranes a week, then I ended up with a crazy work schedule for the past few months. I've made the decision though that I'm not gonna let anything get in the way of me this time. My shoulder isn't feeling good these days and I probably should go see a doctor but I just don't want to deal with it right now. I'm determined to get fit.
